Ways You Can Learn Programming Faster

C specifically controls much more technology than we give it kudos for.
Then again, a portion of your #1 software - potentially even the internet browser you are perusing this article on—is based on C++. Realizing C is a decent base, yet much of the time, software development will expect you to learn C++ and its standards.

If you need to develop software that requires to make the most out of a computer's performance and capacities—top of the line work area games, modern efficiency tools, or complex computation-based programs, for example—or on the off chance that you simply need a programming language that allows you to collaborate with a computer's hardware straightforwardly, C is the language for you.

All in all, for what reason would you not have any desire to C? Unlike 25 years back, when you may have needed to put resources into a restrictive compiler to begin—today you can unquestionably learn C free.
Always Look For The Example Code

Figuring out how to program is about code. At the point when you're first figuring out how to program, you should try to take a gander at, and attempt to see, each model. At the point when I initially figured out how to program, I would at times peruse the code example before the content, and attempt to sort out what they did. It doesn't generally work, yet it constrained me to take a gander at the example cautiously, and it frequently helped make the programs more clear.

ROI: Expert Tips

Organizations know they must comply with relevant regulations simply to continue staying in business. Many IT security teams leverage this and position new security initiatives as a must for compliance. It’s not uncommon to hear a tip like “use compliance to fund your security initiatives” in professional communities or conferences.

In general, it is true that regulations attempt to set minimum guidelines for securing certain types of data or activities. However, no regulation can give you a universal guidebook for securing your specific business against the current threats at a particular moment in time.

Compliance can be an effective way to start an ROI conversation and get attention in a less mature organization where the executive team is less aware of the real risks. However, it is potentially thin ice: You should never give in to a false sense of security based on ticking all the boxes of any compliance checklist.

Another pitfall you want to avoid is creating the perception that IT security team is a “necessary evil” that executives will tolerate and even fund, but would happily get rid of if they could.

I am definitely not arguing you should not bring up compliance in a budgeting conversation. On the contrary, you should be aware of the current and anticipated regulatory requirements for your industry and jurisdiction. However, similar to operational cost reduction, I think it would be a mistake to over-rely on compliance as the primary way to justify a security investment.

How to Detect SQL Database Changes

Four hours in, the coffee I’d been drinking coursed its way through my system and told me it was time for a break.I walked away feeling good about how the day was going. Little did I know. When I returned, I logged back into my computer and the PearsonAccessNext website. As I clicked on the “Students” section, a chill coursed up and down my spine.“NO RESULTS” stared back at me.
The hours I’d just spent creating almost all of our students had vanished!Nothing remained! Not a single student!I cried! I wept! I drank more coffee and despaired!

Where oh where had my testing database gone!I wailed in my office, frightening the only other person I shared it with.I clicked everything I could think of, searching for the work I had so painstakingly created, but it was a ghost in the machine. It haunted me the rest of the day. I couldn’t face re-entering everything in the last half of the day. I would wait until Monday and try again. The specter of my lost database loomed over me the entire weekend as I tried in vain to recover. On Monday morning, I returned to face my doom.I logged once more into the Pearson site. Nothing.
I looked at the page once more, as though through a phantom mist.

The page said “registered students.” I hadn’t registered anyone on Friday. I had merely created the entries for the students.

I clicked “SHOW ALL REGARDLESS OF REGISTRATION.”
My data came flooding back in!A few entries were still missing but three quarters had survived the mishap!I rejoiced and resumed my task and praised the tech gods above that I wouldn’t have to start from scratch.

Cloud Security Tools and Technologies

Users, data, applications and infrastructure all need specific protections. Here are the tools and technologies to consider in each area.
Data protection

The following security measures will help keep your data safe in cloud-hosted environments:
Data access governance (DAG) — Strong governance is the foundation of data security. It involves carefully assigning permissions to access data and continuously monitoring for changes to access rights in order to rigorously enforce least privilege. Using built-in roles can be enormously helpful.
Data discovery and classification — It’s critical to get a complete inventory of the data your organization stores and processes, and to classify and tag that data. The traditional categories of public, internal, confidential and restricted can be a good starting point. Then you can ensure that each type of data has appropriate protection measures in place. Automated remediation workflows are particularly helpful in keeping data secure.
Data loss prevention (DLP) — DLP technologies can help you protect your sensitive data from being lost, misused or accessed by unauthorized people. DLP solutions can use business policies to detect improper activity and respond automatically, for example, by blocking a user from copying regulated data onto removable media

Guest Access in Microsoft 365

On the back end, Microsoft 365 groups are objects in Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). Each group object in Azure AD contains unique identifying information such as:
Information about the group owner
URLs for associated resources
Group membership list, including any guest accounts

By default, the guest access feature is enabled for a Microsoft 365 tenant, which means a Microsoft 365 group owner can invite anyone who has a business or consumer email account become guest members of the group.

As a Microsoft 365 administrator, you can set the level of external access for the tenant by going to the Microsoft 365 Groups page in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Under Services and Add-ins, you can control whether to turn off guest access entirely and whether group owners are allowed to invite guest users.

You can also use PowerShell to limit the policy on guest access. For example, you can:
Prevent guest users from accessing a specific group.
Block external guests from a specific domain.

CompTIA research analysts

Volley also covered cybersecurity with James Stanger, chief technology evangelist at CompTIA joining hosts and CompTIA research analysts Carolyn April and Seth Robinson, to discuss findings in CompTIA's latest research, including the structure of today's security teams and the adoption of a zero trust framework. He also covered how companies are dealing with privacy as they rely more and more on data for their offerings and products."The whole idea behind zero trust is it takes out this assumption whenever you make any sort of connection... Imagine in a model where you actually have to prove your endpoint; you have to prove your place of login, even before you begin to get the most basic of services. So basically, it’s an inspection of the state of your computer. At what point do we trust it or not trust it?"
James Stanger, Chief Technology Evangelist, CompTIA

Closing out the month on Volley, hosts Carolyn April and Seth Robinson were joined by Randy Gross, CompTIA CIO and executive vice president of certification operations, for the annual holiday episode, sharing with us, for Halloween, what scares them; for Thanksgiving, what they are thankful for; and for the winter holidays, what’s on their wish lists."Because we have the technological capabilities to be able to pivot to working from home, and I've been really impressed by the resiliency and the flexibility that technology has allowed people to be able to function and workers have responded to it. It's actually presented in some cases an opportunity for providers in the tech space, specifically in the channel, for instance, to create new businesses that are able to support all these people that are now working from home. So, we hear about the downsides—the unemployment and people who have lost their jobs and that is very real. But without the tech tools that we have in place now that this would be far worse in terms of in terms of the unemployment hit so I'm thankful for that."

What Is Layer 2 in the OSI Model?

To gain an appreciation of the characteristics of addressing, it is helpful to bring forward an example that may be familiar and easy to understand.

Let’s think about this in terms of a mobile home community. Each of the mobile homes have a serial number permanently attached to the home’s frame. Computers have a similar address, called its media access control (MAC) address. That address is “burnt” on to the computers network interface card and is unique in nature. An example of the MAC address is shown in figure 1 below.

MAC (or physical) addressing provides an effective method of moving data across a small community of computing devices where routing traffic between multiple communities is not required. Traffic distribution for these small networks is handled by layer 2 switches that learn the MAC addresses of the computers connected to ports on the switch. The switches then send packets from the sending computer directly to the receiving device. This method of directing traffic helps reduce potential network congestion.

A MAC address consists of a series of 12 hexadecimal numbers. The first six numbers are useful in identifying the manufacturer of the network interface card. The last six numbers are assigned by the card manufacturer, providing a unique addressing scheme. This avoids the possibility of having two computers on the same network with the same physical address.

IT Industry Outlook

Aside from the big trends that we talked about in the IT Industry Outlook 2021, there are several other concepts floating around that will be worth watching in the new year. Some of these are closer to buzzwords than actual trends—the Outlook report also features a callout box touching on several of these hot topics, from 5G to robotic process automation (RPA) to sustainability. Other concepts are not fully formed—we can see some of the pieces that go into the idea, but not the full path forward.

One example of the second category is the mix of business models we will see in the IT industry, specifically at the layer of the industry that deals directly with customers. Heading into 2021, there are four different models that are either well established or well positioned for future growth. These are certainly not the only models that exist, but they stand out because of the different operational styles required.

A business model that needs no introduction, consulting is a full-time business for some and a lead-in to further selling opportunities for others. Consulting is certainly not specific to the IT industry, but the rapid digitization of business (especially in the past year) has led to greater demand for understanding the overall landscape. One area that provides insight into this need for understanding is cybersecurity. As companies transition from a secure perimeter mindset to a zero trust mindset, there are many new considerations that come before ever making a purchase. Helping clients through these considerations requires a solid understanding of the trends involved.

Become familiar with the CompTIA A+ Exam Objectives

One of the first things you can do to prepare long before test day is to download the CompTIA Exam Objectives. Read through the official exam objectives as outlined by CompTIA. They can be downloaded directly from the CompTIA website at https://www.comptia.org/training/resources/exam-objectives

This document is more than an explanation of the exam requirements; it can be considered a master guide as you go through the Computer Technician program. Use it as the ultimate checklist for your studies.

Students currently enrolled in the Career Step Computer Technician training program will want to register for the 220-701 and 220-702 exams since our current course has been designed around the 701 and 702 objectives. These exams will continue to be available until August 31, 2013. Career Step is currently revising the Computer Technician training program to meet the new 220-801 and 220-802 objectives and prepare students for the new exams. We’ll keep you posted on the revised program’s availability.

On test day, get a good night’s sleep, eat a good meal before taking the test, arrive a few minutes early, and go in with a positive attitude. You will want to schedule both sections of the exams back to back on the same day. Be confident in your first “gut reaction” to the questions, and try and eliminate possible answers through process of elimination. By narrowing down the choices, you can focus on the remaining choices to help select the best answer.

Extensive tips for examination comptia a+ certification

Although you have done everything on your side to make sure that you ace the final exam, a little insight into tested tips and methods won't go amiss. Below are some extensive guidelines regarding the examination, take a look;
You are advised to change the study material, which reflects the proper strategies or content of the CompTIA Security+ exam. But don’t do this a few weeks before the examination because it won’t help you to prepare for the exam from the beginning within this limited timeframe.
Take as many practice tests as you can, this will increase your exposure with various styles of the actual examination, so there won’t be any new surprises.
Try to learn time management because it is going to be the main essence of your certification exam. If you can manage time properly and divide a dedicated fraction of it for multiple questions, then you will pass the exam without any doubt.
Take a good night’s rest before your exam day and stick with your instincts and knowledge acquired throughout preparation more than anything and you will do just fine

Become familiar with the inside of a computer

Knowing what the inside of a computer looks like and how all the parts connect to each other is very important. Take apart a computer, and practice taking adapter cards out of the computer, unscrewing hard drives and optical drives, and examining individual components. This works best if you have a desktop computer, and preferably one that you can use for practice (not the main computer you need for day-to-day use, or the one you are using to complete your online computer training course). Become familiar with the cabling, connectors, and how everything fits together.

Tip 3: Use additional study resources available on the Internet
Use additional study resources available online. While the Computer Technician course has been designed as a comprehensive training course with all of the information needed to pass the CompTIA A+ exams, it is also helpful to supplement your studies with additional online resources. Good review materials can be found for free online, and include tutorials, video clips, pictures, and other resources to help provide a well-rounded approach to your studies.

Tip 4: Take a few practice exams
The Computer Technician course has been designed with evaluation points along the way, including unit reviews, quizzes, and a midterm and final exam after each major section. Review these sections and make sure you did well. Review these quizzes as needed, and take them again for practice. The midterm and final are also designed to provide a practice experience. You can take the midterm as many times as you would like and the final up to 3 times. In addition to information in the course, you can also go online and search for various free practice exams or quizzes to test your knowledge of materials presented on the A+ exams. Sample questions can be downloaded from the CompTIA website

data Breach Prevention Audit

The most important audits are a data Breach Prevention Audit (BPA) and an Enterprise Security Audit (ESA). Ask the provider about how they conduct the audits and what the deliverables will look like. Request samples of these audits if available.
3. Have they developed and implemented strategic security plans?

The main objective of hiring a CISO-as-a-Service is for the firm to develop a strategic security plan and then implement it. When assessing vendors, dig deep into their experience with these two things. It’s one thing for a provider to say they’ve created plans in an abstract way. It’s another when they have specific examples of doing so for other customers and what they have helped them achieve.

For a CISO-as-a-Service to be legitimate and reputable, they don’t need a long list of well-known brands as customers. What they do need is case studies and data that show they were able to execute on developed plans. Viewing a high-level cybersecurity roadmap example can instill great confidence that the company has the experience to lead your security efforts.

Cybersecurity Needs to ‘Catch Up’ to Protect Remote Workers

Transitioning a workforce from a central location to many brings about all kinds of remote work cybersecurity challenges. It’s also attractive to threat actors. According to one study, 46 percent of global businesses endured at least one cybersecurity incident since moving to remote work.

Those scares occurred because there were security gaps, so to “catch up” and not be on a hacker’s radar, your organization needs to revisit security practices and invest in new solutions.
Device Security

When your employees are on one network, your IT team can easily watch network traffic and use a host of approaches to thwart attacks. Now, you’re dealing with hundreds or even thousands of networks.

The onus of keeping a network secure is solely on the employee, who more than likely isn’t being vigilant as you’d like. Many organizations are continuing to use VPNs (virtual private networks) to allow users to join enterprise networks. But this is just a band-aid that’s not really sustainable long-term.

Adjust Your Remote Work and BYOD Protocols

Have you looked at your remote work and BYOD (bring your own device) protocols this year? It’s possible you did when the country went on lockdown and IT teams had to hurry to enable a remote workforce. But did you really dig deep into your rules and processes? Did you account for all the new endpoints to protect?

Securing remote from home workspaces and personal devices is very much a moving target right now for organizations. You have to remain flexible and agile as you rethink the concept of where your employees work.

For the most cyber secure outcomes, go back through your protocols, update them, and share them with all users.
3. Keep Data Protection Initiatives Up to Date

Various elements help you protect your data, applications, and networks. Ensuring these are always up to date can be daunting. Software requires constant version updates. Beyond application updates, you have firewalls, VPNs (virtual private networks), operating systems, and other components that need updating. You can use automation to help manage this so it’s not burdensome.

How To Train Your Team: War Gaming

Training your team on security policies is the first step. All employees need to understand how to react in the moment.

Requiring staff to sign off on an employee handbook isn’t enough to prevent future incidents. Employees should understand the types of incidents they could be a target for, such as the all-too-common phishing attempt. You don’t need everyone in your company to be a security analyst, but you should be able to show them what suspicious behavior outside of company protocol looks like and how to deal with it.

Anyone who handles or manages a system that holds personally identifiable information (PII) including data as simple as contact information records may need an extra level of attention when you are training your team around incident handling. These files can often be the end game of the threat actor, whether they intend to ransom them or steal them.

Earlier in this article we defined that preparation is the single-most important element of a response plan. What exactly does that mean? In many cases, being prepared means being experienced. So how do you create cybersecurity breach response experience for your team?

War gaming could be the solution. War gaming is one of the most important steps when it comes to incident response planning. It sounds intense because it is. Take your employees, in particular your first responders, through a breach incident exercise, and don’t stop with entry-level employees. An effective war game exercise also involves the executive suite and multiple departments.

advanced enterprise data breaches

The question is, why? Why not spikes in any number of advanced enterprise data breaches? Why not an avalanche of other malware or more advanced forms of fraud? Why is ransomware, in particular, exploding?

The answer is found in the destructive synergy between a world plunged into chaos and ransomware’s unique profit model. Digging into the specifics of ransomware attacks and building our understanding of why this mode of criminality is a perfect fit for the weaknesses imposed on enterprise IT by the pandemic, can teach us a lot. Specifically, what steps businesses and their CompTIA-certified cybersecurity pros will have to take to harden their defenses, keeping enterprise systems and employees alike, safe from exploitation.

And these same users whose computers are not appropriately secured are no longer protected by perimeter security that would knock out obvious ransomware emails or block traffic to sketchy websites. The most successful criminals always go with what’s easiest first, and with a world of panicked people computing from insecure environments, making money via ransomware suddenly got way easier. In other words, more unprotected endpoints means more opportunities.

Why You Should Get CCNA

CCNA Routing and Switching is a Cisco-specific networking certification. While it is still considered a beginner-level certification, most professionals consider it to be significantly more challenging than the CompTIA Network+ exam.

This exam goes into much more in-depth topics compared to the foundational knowledge of Network+. This is one reason why hiring managers tend to value the CCNA over Network+. Here are two reasons why you may consider CCNA over Network+:
You already have a few years of networking experience
You want to advance your career in a networking position

CCNA could still be the right option. Cisco certifications are well respected throughout the industry, and your potential employer will appreciate the skill and knowledge necessary to achieve the certification. The skills necessary to pass CCNA are transferable to other technologies.

In addition, Cisco holds over 50% market penetrations of its technologies. So finding a job that utilizes these tools won’t be too hard to find.

Why Bring Chatbots in DevOps

In order to build a strong foundation to understand the uses of chatbots in DevOps, it is important to know about the pain points in DevOps. The adoption of DevOps has obviously brought many advantages for better collaboration among development and operations teams. However, organizations also have to face many challenges for the operations of their end-to-end service delivery lifecycle. Here is an outline of the notable pain points for enterprises with DevOps.
Creation, setup, and deployment of new environments for specific applications with complicated environment configurations imposes higher costs, time consumption, and higher vulnerability to errors.
Manual interventions also present risks for moving or promoting code between environments and could also lead to more outages.
Development teams look forward to improving the value of change through scripting new code or improvements in the existing code. At the same time, operations teams want to maintain service level agreements (SLAs) and KPIs. Therefore, the conflicting goals that go unnoticed in DevOps strategies can lead to the development of a culture of blame among the development and operations teams.
The process and instrumentation gaps are also creating setbacks for synchronization between development, testing, and production operations. Manual processes could not be adequate for resolving this consistency, thereby resulting in common occurrences of production downtime.

Multi-Vendor vs. Single-Vendor Environment

Opting for a single-vendor environment versus a multi-vendor one is often determined by things such as functionality and ease of implementation. Here are a few of the pros and cons of multi-vendor vs. single-vendor environments.
Capability, Choice and Fit: Organizations will focus on the equipment and services that best fulfill their needs. While cost is a factor, organizations will prioritize the proper fit for the equipment. Considerations include how well the particular device or service makes it possible for the business to function at a high level.
Implementation: Implementing a single-vendor environment is an easier process. Because all tools are programmed to work together, you don’t run into problems with compatibility. With multi-vendor environments, implementation can be more difficult. Challenges arise with compatibility, and increased complexity makes it difficult to merge all tools into one comprehensive whole.
Functionality: The primary problem that arises with a single-vendor environment is the lack of functionality to fit every problem. Often, departments will push for particular solutions because they solve for a specific pain point. Single-vendor environments often don’t meet the end-to-end needs of businesses. When this happens, IT professionals may try to develop workarounds, which ultimately leads to a cumbersome network that is difficult to manage.

CompTIA Security+ is the Industry Standard

The CompTIA Security+ certification is widely considered one of the essential foundational security certifications in the cybersecurity industry today. Created by Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the Security+ certification is also accredited by ANSI demonstrating the ability to apply knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary to be compliant with the ISO 17024 Standard.
4. No Prerequisites or Experience Required

One of the reasons many people decide not to obtain certifications that would significantly elevate their careers is a list of conditions required to enter the training and obtain the certification. Unlike many other cybersecurity certifications, Security+ does not have any requirements regarding mandatory prerequisites or experience. CompTIA does recommend candidates to have approximately two years of work experience in the networking and security fields to increase the likelihood of being hired faster and passing the certification.
5. Work Anywhere in America

One of the most significant advantages of the CompTIA Security+ Certification Training is the fact that it is recognized and accepted anywhere in the United States. It is not only approved by the U.S. Department of Defense but is their mandated network cybersecurity certification as well.

cloud security analysts

We’ve seen an increase in demand for network security engineers and cloud security analysts, as most clients are shifting to a more remote workforce and there’s a need to make sure their staff is secure, he says. “Those businesses need to constantly be checking their secure sign-ons and active directories and provide a secure work environment, for employees working from home or third party clients—there are just more touch points for people who are going to work remotely.”

Cyber security -- as always is the case -- is in high demand, confirms Dr. Abel Sanchez, executive director and research scientist at the Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity at MIT.

“The way we're working in a distributed fashion has additional security record requirements, and we were already dealing with a skills shortage when it came to security even before COVID-19,” he explained. “So, this is one career that continues to be really promising and has even more opportunity now that we are working differently.”

If IT workers are already in the security area, they will benefit from adding some machine learning or data science skills.

workforce development

The approach to workforce development has to mobilize to meet the dynamic needs of the labor market.
And that doesn't just mean preparing people for a job, but it's really for a lifetime of careers and opportunities… understanding that our touchpoints are going to be throughout the lifelong journey of the worker. Because individuals are going to need to access our resources continue to skill up. And I think that's the change because before, it was all about preparing people for a job and then “good luck.”
Now, we're in this relationship that's more long-term. …We're saying, "You know what, we're going to be together in the long haul because we're going to help you stay employed. We're going help you stay resilient. We're going to help you stay skilled up."

The idea there is to align the resources with opportunity. And that may mean through formal education, through formal, informal training, or may mean just alignment with employment opportunities straight to the job.

What I'm focused on is how do we increase and broaden the economic prosperity specifically of all Missourians? How do we leave it a little bit better than we found it? How do we make Missouri a place that is more comfortable for people to live, that gives a lot of people an opportunity for upward mobility, to build a sense of self-sustainability, and a sense of dignity?

benefits of CISSP certification

The certified CISSP expert title works as an efficient and powerful networking tool. Even as a bachelor’s degree in management information systems helps students develop connections and also the MS MIS degree further strengthens and extends such networks, CISSP certification allows those focused on cyber security to similarly expand productive and mutualist professional relationships as they interact through conferences and through continuing education opportunities.

The certification acts as a transparent, instantly recognized achievement in terms of the implementation of cyber security skills. This can be a robust asset in day-to-day operations, as proof of competence to colleagues and subordinates and as a point when holders seek new opportunities within the field.

A CISSP Certification can help professionals grow their careers in many areas. While not a guarantee for someone seeking a selected role, the certification has proven beneficial to those that hold it. This practical consideration is necessary for professionals within the field to consider: While compensation does not have an effect on day-to-day duties, it is a critical element of a successful career. Earning the CISSP certification can have a crucial impact on the financial bottom line of the professionals who successfully complete the exam.

Inclusive Language in All Communications

All communications, whether internal or external, should use inclusive language to reflect the company’s commitment to providing a welcoming and equitable workplace. Tips for writing inclusively are:
Using a non-gender specific pronoun like you instead of he or she
Avoiding unnecessary jargon
Removing gender-coded words from job descriptions
Avoiding racist coding/programming terms like master, slave, blacklist and whitelist

“Understand how to communicate with diverse groups of people and ensure that communications, both internally and externally, represent the widest range of diversity possible,” stated Pound.
Connect with Local Organizations to Recruit Talent from Underrepresented Groups

When Pound networks with IT companies, she often hears that it is difficult to recruit for diversity because “they don’t get a diverse group of applicants.”

To recruit a wide-ranging pool of talent, “forge relationships with organizations supporting underrepresented and underserved people,” said Pound. Local organizations may include nonprofits, local colleges, networking groups and trade associations that serve underrepresented populations.

CompTIA Security+ exam

MSPs have always shown resilience through their recurring revenue model, and I believe that they will continue to do so. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that right now, we’re at a point in history that could be called the Age of the MSP.

I recently took—and passed—the CompTIA Security+ exam (Sec+). Sec+ is a general introduction to multiple functional areas of security, ranging from network security to access control and identity management, for anyone looking to break into the space. For context, I have no previous training as a network or security professional, and my educational background was finance and Russian, nothing related to security. So, how much did I really know beforehand, and what steps did I take to prepare for the exam?

Even after almost two decades into my career, I can easily say the MSP Channel is more relevant than ever before – especially when it comes to supporting the SMB segment. I’m sure there will be plenty of more lessons as MSPs keep those businesses safe and secure while working remotely.

And, as a result, we’ll have even more war stories to tell when we see each other in-person at the next CompTIA ChannelCON.

WHAT IS DIGITAL INNOVATION AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT

An innovation can be small and incremental or large and transformative. Innovation not only includes a new or changed product or service, it can include changes to organizational structure, supply chain as in the case of Walmart (This article provides a good overview of their innovations in supply chain management and is worth a read), or customer experience, in which Walt Disney was a pioneer (This article provides great information on the importance of having robust processes, collaborating across teams, and responding to customer feedback). Both of these companies are also good examples of modern “digital” innovators, so let’s talk about what that means.

Not all innovations are digital in nature. Here’s a definition that does a good job of describing the term:

Digital innovation: that spark of creativity that leads to the development of new technology or innovative applications of existing digital technology. Digital innovation is often the precursor to digital transformation.

Some examples of digital innovations include things like 3D printing, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, chatbots, and wearable devices. However, we need to keep in mind, “Digital innovation isn’t about the technology itself, but rather about people’s ability to use digital technology to solve traditional problems. It is the process of leveraging advancements or innovating with technology to reimagine how business is done.” The tools we use may be new, but the problems we’re solving are still fundamentally human. So, what’s the right mindset to have when dealing with innovation, regardless of whether it’s a digital innovation?

Benefits of the CWSP certification

According to a recent study at Clark University, a hacking attempt is recorded every 39 seconds. Having secure wireless connections is no longer just a luxury that larger companies enjoy. In fact, most hacking attempts are tailored towards startups and small businesses. Hackers know that these targets are less likely to devote enough resources towards security, making them more vulnerable to data breaches.

The CWSP certification is a critical step that can help you detect and repel incoming attacks to your wireless networks. There are numerous benefits to ensuring that your team is CWSP certified these include:

Protect sensitive company information: Regardless of the nature of your operations, you’ll most likely handle sensitive data on a regular basis. This data may include customer information (names and addresses), credit card numbers (and other payment data), investor records, and corporate financial information. Such data could result in significant damages (and losses) if it were to end up in the wrong hands.

CWSP certification ensures that your company personnel are ready to protect this sensitive data on a daily basis.

Reduce operational costs: CWSP–certified personnel are also trained in administering wireless systems. This means that they can inspect your current infrastructure and make appropriate changes that will help you save on costs.

THE FUTURE OF COMPTIA SECURITY+

Unsurprisingly, the field of cybersecurity is becoming more complex. Most practitioners agree that threats are increasing, and attack vectors are becoming more sophisticated. At present, CompTIA® is reworking the Security+ curriculum to amp up sections on threats and vulnerabilities as well as cloud security. Additionally, tools and technology along with automation and orchestration are being enhanced in response to the increase in the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. It is anticipated that organizations will also rely upon practitioners at this level of education and experience to provide some penetration testing; thus, the next version of Security+ will likely include increased focus on this skillset.

The new version of the Security+ certification (SY0-601) is set to be released in November 2020. As is customary, CompTIA® will deprecate the current version (SY0-501) 6 months after release, May 2021.

While colleges and universities offer cybersecurity tracks, the skills gap is not necessarily being closed by these degree programs. Organizations are seeking analysts with practical experience and performance-based training that comes from well-respected certifications, such as Security+ from CompTIA®.

Adapting Communications Approaches

In a time of intense business disruption where social distancing prevented meeting with partners face to face, vendors and distributors modified their communications strategies to reflect new paradigms.

“Customers need to know what to expect from us. Basic clarity became the forefront of our comms,” Watts said.

Taking the time to personally update partners on service levels—whether by phone or one-on-one virtual conference meetings—was a top priority for many distributors.

According to Watts, “We gave interactive PDFs so that our team could talk with our customers about all of our service levels—exactly where we were—to give them the reassurance they needed. That personal touch came back in.”

Hammervik closed by mentioning one of her favorite quotes: "Going through things you never thought you'd go through will take you places you never thought you'd get to," adding that there are positives to take from our current environment, and that things will get better.

How Do I Get Certified?

As is evident in an office setting, it isn’t always about you. The following are benefits the whole company will enjoy:
Higher customer satisfaction with workers who are certified
Improved productivity, chiefly when an entire department holds CompTIA certifications
Reduced rate of employee turnover

There are two exams you must pass in order to receive your certification, and we offer training and testing for both.

The first exam is CompTIA A+ 220-801, which covers the basics of networking and the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and other related hardware.

new CompTIA A+ 220-902begin exclusively

Is it wise to do the old CompTIA A+ 220-902exams?
As long as the 31st of July 2019 is still in the future, the old exams (220-901 and 220-902) remain an option. However, not even a single testing center will be offering it anyway.
3. When does the new CompTIA A+ 220-902begin exclusively?
Initially, the old CompTIA A+ 220-902exams were to be termed obsolete, though not its knowledge, on 31st January 2019. Despite that, there has been a change in that. As of now, these exams will be available until 31st July 2019. Therefore, until that day, the new CompTIA A+ 220-902exams (220-1001 and 220-1002) will not be the only CompTIA A+ 220-902certification exams.
4. Is it possible to mix and match the old and the New CompTIA A+?
Unfortunately, that is not possible. If you start with the CompTIA A+220-901, you must do CompTIA A+220-902, the same works for the new exams as well. The worst case scenario is if you do CompTIA A+ 220-902220-901 and can’t complete the CompTIA A+220-902 before the July deadline. If that happens, the CompTIA A+220-901 exam will be a waste of time.
Nevertheless, you can use that knowledge to do the CompTIA A+220-1001 and CompTIA A+220-1002 to get the certification. That is not a new thing since time immemorial; one can only get a certification after doing two exams of the same series and pass them.

In other words, the employee can undoubtedly employ high-level cybersecurity skills in the organization and help in detecting, preventing, and combating cybersecurity threats.

Another powerful benefit to employers, specifically those that sponsor their employees to earn this certification, is the relatively low cost and impressive return on investment (ROI). More often, employers only pay for the examination fee, although some cater to boot camps and training courses. This is a minuscule price for an organization to pay in exchange for the boost in skills and knowledge that comes with CySA+ certification.

How to Get a Job in Cybersecurity

From network security to an incident responder or an ethical hacker, an IT security manager may be tasked with anything from installing, administering and troubleshooting security solutions to writing up security policies and training documents for colleagues. While other job roles are responsible for a specific part of the overall system, cybersecurity talent must be able to take a step back and see the big picture to keep it secure from cyberattacks and data breaches.

If you already have some technical skills under your belt, the first step is discovering how your knowledge transfers to the cybersecurity field. For example, if you understand code, you’ll be able to identify and protect against malicious code.

Of course, in technology there’s always something new to learn – and when fighting cybercrime, it’s even more true. Start by taking inventory of your transferable technical skills and make note of the skills you’d like to learn to land a job in cybersecurity. This applies to soft skills as well.

For those without a technical background, the entry to cybersecurity is a little different, but there’s still plenty of opportunity. For example, cyber policy analyst and technical writer are positions that you could obtain without the technical know-how. Think of these entry-level jobs as stepping stones to more advanced cybersecurity jobs as you gain more experience and training.

passing the CompTIA Network+ exam

The Method of Elimination works – use it: This is especially important when you get a single answer choice question. Even if you don’t know the subject matter relating to the question well, you can eliminate the choices which clearly don’t make sense. The very least you do is increase your probability of being right if you have to guess. In the best cases, all except the correct answers can be eliminated.
Practice performing the binary math calculations: It helps immensely while answering questions related to IP addresses.
Breadth of the subject matter is more important than depth: Remember that the Network+ is not testing whether you are an expert in a particular aspect of networking. Rather, it tests your fundamentals of networking across a wide variety of topics. So while preparing, make sure you focus on covering all the topics first rather than getting into the details of each.
Pick the low hanging fruits first: Remember that you can always come back to answer a question later. So do not spend too much time trying to answer a difficult question as this is not an adaptive test so the difficulty level will not change depending on your answers. So just answer the ones you are sure you know and then come back to attempt the difficult ones later.
Practice, practice and more practice: Practice indeed makes perfect. So attempt as many practice tests as possible. Once you are done with the official CompTIA practice tests, attempt the one on the MyITstudy website which have been designed by CompTIA Network+ training experts.

Typical MFA scenarios include

Multifactor authentication ensures that a user is who they say they are. The more factors are used to determine the identity of a person, the greater the reliability of the authenticity.
Typical MFA scenarios include:

1) Swiping a card and entering a PIN.
2) Logging into a website and being requested to enter an additional one-time password (OTP) that the website’s authentication server sends to the requester’s phone or email address.
3) Downloading a VPN client with a valid digital certificate and logging into the VPN before being granted access to a network.
4) Swiping a card, scanning a fingerprint and answering a security question.
5) Attaching a USB hardware token to a desktop that generates a one-time passcode and using the one-time passcode to log into a VPN client.

Something you know (The knowledge factor)

Accessing any account requires credentials by registering a unique username and password. Cellphone PINs and the answers to secret questions also fall under this category. Creating a strong password is still recommended.

Strong Password – Consisting of at least 8 characters that contain a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols if allowed. Case-sensitive letters along with passwords that do not contain words that can be found in a dictionary.
However, even strong passwords we use today lack credibility in the security world, thus introducing two-factor authentication (2FA) or multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Take the CompTIA A+ Certification?

CompTIA A+ is widely recognized as one of the very first IT certifications that prospective IT professionals should obtain. It’s the industry standard for launching IT careers. It not only validates your foundational knowledge, but it also shows employers that you are willing to learn and advance your career, and you have ability to study and pass an exam.
Simply having CompTIA A+ on your resume can place you above non-certification holders in line for an interview. And when you’re trying to win your first IT job, that’s a big deal.
If you’re looking to enter information technology as a service technician or IT support and then move up, CompTIA A+ is the right starting point. Individuals with some hands-on experience (9-12 months) in the lab or field will find themselves the most prepared. But anybody can learn.

An entry-level worker who has earned CompTIA A+ is a proven problem solver, someone who's able to address complicated IT issues," CompTIA Senior Director, Certification Product Management Teresa Sears said. "That frees up senior-level employees to work on strategic, higher-level projects that enable a business to operate more efficiently and impact a company's bottom line in a positive way."

DevOps
Cloud-based jobs
Software development
System administration

This list is by no means comprehensive. With a little creativity and a flexible employer, the options could certainly span other IT fields. The ability to perform IT work remotely is primarily driven by the need to interact with hardware. With so many software tools available, the need for the on-premise IT worker has certainly been reduced.

Learn more about these IT jobs and how to get them.

The cloud has made life far easier for the remote IT worker. Gabrielle Hempel is a cloud security engineer, and she sees increased remote opportunities for cloud-based jobs.

How We Train Cybersecurity Professionals

Over the years, I’ve tracked the ongoing ways that cybersecurity has morphed its way into today’s IT departments, as well as into upper management. The changes have been significant as new and emerging technologies continue to weave their way into our daily lives. As we learn more about these new technologies, it’s only natural that we’d learn how to better protect our valuable data. Sometimes the best way to do this is via specialization. When we have specific roles and responsibilities, theoretically less falls through the cracks. Let’s take a look at the advent of the cybersecurity trifecta and how the inclusion of infrastructure, operations and management is working in today’s digital world.

When it comes to cybersecurity, we’re seeing more than just one big IT circle of influence. We now have three. I’ve used the terms trifecta and hat trick before, when describing three ways to keep track of emerging technology. It seems like we’ve got another trifecta – or three winners in a race – when it comes to cybersecurity.

These are the people who manage and configure systems of all types (e.g., installed, cloud, hybrid) to make sure that both internal and external customers have access to reliable technology. Key performance indicators tend to focus on speed, reliability and availability of services.

How Much Money Is There In Cybersecurity

Convinced yet? No? Well, let’s take a look at some other statistics. Financial ones.

Check out these entry-level pay rates for cyber roles from Indeed: $38.57 an hour for Project Managers, $51.86 an hour for IT Security Specialists. Extrapolate those numbers over a full year, and you get salaries of $80,225.60 and $107,868.80, respectively!

And that’s just to start. Let’s take a look at the figures later down the career path.

too, has a breakdown of high-paying cybersecurity jobs. Here’s a look at the average salary range for six different positions:
Information Security Manager: $125,000 to $215,000
Cybersecurity Engineer: $120,000 to $200,000
Application Security Engineer: $120,000 to $180,000
Cybersecurity Analyst: $90,000 and $160,000
Penetration Tester (Ethical Hacker): $80,000 to $130,000
Network Security Engineer: $125,000 to $185,000

But again, say you’re a Vermonter or a Montanan. How useful are those numbers, when location isn’t factored in?

The folks at ZipRecruiter considered that, too. They put together handy salary figures broken down by state — a perfect complement to the above map from Cyberseek.

Among states with the highest average cybersecurity salaries, New York narrowly leads the way ($123,918), followed by Massachusetts ($122,746), Washington ($121,890), New Hampshire ($119,461), and Hawaii ($117,889).

As good as those top numbers are, the bottom ones aren’t nearly as bad as you might think. North Carolina, the lowest state on the list, still carries an average cybersecurity salary of $90,882.

Certifications Validate the Skills You Need to Succeed

From an employer standpoint, every hire is a gamble. It takes time and money to get them registered in the system, trained, and enmeshed with a new team. Of course, there will always be situations where things don’t work out for one way or another, but it still important to get every assurance possible an employee will be a good fit.

That’s where certifications come in. They provide globally recognized, 3rd party (CompTIA, EC-Council, PMI, etc.) verification of a certain skill set. This can be easily understood by employers and technical professionals alike. Whether you’re validating a skill that you already have or taking on a wholly new one, it shows an employer that you definitely know what you’re talking about.

Organizations that invest in certifications for their employees are rewarded with happier and more productive workers who want to stay longer. Not only do they bring a brand new skill set to the table, they’re grateful, excited, and engaged because their company showed faith in them.

Getting employees certified also boosts confidence and peace of mind. On the one hand, workers feel assured in their knowledge. Meanwhile, customers themselves know that they’re getting more bang for their buck.
