Computech a+ Certification

Earning the CompTIA A+ certification can prepare participants for a career in computer support, with various courses available to provide the training necessary. Find out what kind of requirements, courses, and careers are related to this field.
A Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) certification signifies that a person possesses the fundamental computer skills. The A+ certification prepares a person for entry-level jobs in technical support and administration. It demonstrates that the holder has a background in computer hardware, networking, operating systems, security, and mobile technologies and is able to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, peripherals, and other devices.
This is a question I have been asked many times by students who have attended my classes. I, myself, am a CCSI (Cisco Certified Instructor – for CCNA) as well as an instructor of the Network+ Certification course offered by CompTIA.
The first logical question is, given that they are both networking related certifications, what is the difference between the Network+ and CCNA certifications?

The number one way to ensure you have the best chance to pass Security+ on the first attempt is to study, study, and study. Do not procrastinate and cram all of your study time into a week while taking a training class. The best study techniques and methods entail:
  • Distributed practice and repetition over an extended period of time.
  • Practice questions, exams, and exercises.
  • Active reading, interrogation, and elaboration.
Also, be sure to check MooC (massively online open course) providers for their Security+ courses. MooC courses are offered online and have the advantage of being available anytime, anywhere. Most MooC courses are free, although certification or diploma fees might apply depending on the provider. Well-known MooC providers include Cybrary, Coursera, EdX, FutureLearn and Udacity. YouTube also contains hundreds if not thousands of free videos dedicated to Security+ and security-related topics. In particular, be sure to check out Professor Messer’s Security+ Study Group and CBT Nuggets.

Computers aren’t easy, the available resources for the CompTIA may be outdated, and there is nothing worse than spending a bunch of money on an Exam only to fail it. Nobody likes a dent in the wallet and a dose of internalized shame. We understand. We’ve been there too. We know the challenge of studying for the A+ Exam, but we also know, there is hope!
Passing a CompTIA Certification doesn’t have to overwhelming. If you listen to these seven simple tips on CompTIA A+ Certification preparation you can show up on test day, ready to go and confident of success.
CompTIA A+ Certification exams test you on a large amount of hardware knowledge. One of the most rewarding experiences you can have in IT is the satisfaction of building your first computer. Few things are so intimidating and yet so simple. Building a desktop computer is an exhilarating way to familiarize yourself with hardware and components. The muscle memory and time-intensive process teaches you in a way that reading and watching just can’t. Building a desktop helps clarify what the RAM, HDD, SSD, GPU, CPU, MOBO and a host of other acronyms mean. CompTIA A+ exams have MANY questions covering a large spectrum of hardware and software knowledge that is required at an entry-level Information Technology job. Building a desktop gives you experience in setting up an OS, running through a BIOS, hardware differences, selecting case and motherboard type, and much more. It is a great way to feel confident on exam day, knowing that the hardware portion of the CompTIA exam is not just theory but real world practice.

a+ certification salary

Many people say that it is not worth the time and expense of achieving certification status. Others seem to think that it is an absolute necessity for anyone getting into the IT industry. The truth, like so many things, is probably somewhere closer to the middle.
Let’s cut the chase and talk about bringing home the bacon. How much will I earn if I get CompTIA Security+ certified, or better said, how much should I be expecting to earn in the USA with this certification?
The answer is $75,000.
Being CompTIA A+ certified is definitely worth it when it comes to landing entry-level jobs. It is recognized as one of the very first certifications that prospective IT pros should obtain. It validates enough general knowledge and skills about computers and networking to be useful. It is not intended as a super certification that trumps experience, but it shows employers two things.
The reason we have put Security+ in our cross-hairs is because we want to help younger people get employed and this certification is particularly well known for offering a solid foundation when starting a career in information security.
A+ critics say the exam is only good as a basic IT competency check. But that seems like a good thing?  While it’s true A+ certification won’t land you a senior role or coveted technical position, it definitely has its place in your certification toolbox.
